On Saturday, Penybont travelled to Monmouthshire-based Goytre for a Nathaniel Car Sales Welsh League Division One fixture.

The first half was of poor quality on a difficult pitch and the best opportunity for Penybont to score came from Owain Warlow whose shot was just wide of the post in the 38th minute.

Five minutes into the second half Goytre took the lead when Luke Prosser scored from a Kris Leek cross.

Four minutes later, Goytre increased their lead through Lewis Sommers.

In the 62nd minute, Penybontís Marcus Griffithsí shot hit the crossbar and went over for a goal kick.

Five minutes later, Penybontís keeper Rhys Wilson made a point-blank save from Sommers.

In the 73rd minute Penybontís Tom Atyeo made two good clearances in quick succession.

In the 81st minute, Goytre sealed a 3-0 victory with a goal by substitute Blake Davies.

Penybont: Rhys Wilson, Ioan Emanuel, Kane Owen, Kieran Howard, James Parry, Rhys Griffiths, Owain Warlow, Tom Atyeo, Billy Borge (Bleddyn Webster 60), Marcus Griffiths, Josef Hopkins. Subs not used: Adam Carpenter, Kyran Gardner.

 

Also on Saturday, Penybontís reserves entertained Trefelin at the KYMCO Stadium in Reserves Division West and recorded a 4-0 victory with goals from Gavin Thomas, Ben Cripps and Matthew Symons 2.

Penybont: Jonathan Davies, William Morris, Ben Symons, Joshua Clements, Connor James, Rhys Jordan, Gavin Thomas (Matthew Symons), Kieran Davies, Nicholas Ivey (Gabriel Sanches Pessoa), Ben Cripps (Christopher Pothecary), Robert Symons. Sub not used: Nigel Jordan.

 

Further on Saturday, Penybont's third team entertained Maesteg Park reserves in a Round One group stage fixture in the Celtic Tyres Bridgend and District League's Court Coleman Division One Cup.

Penybont won 4-1 with goals from Matthew Jones 2, Rhys Kelly and Lloyd McVeigh.

 

On Sunday, Penybont entertained Cardiff Met University in the WPL Development League (South) and shared the goals in a 10-goal thriller.

Cardiff Met went into a two-goal lead through Rhys Thomas (20) and an own goal by Penybontís skipper, Kieran Davies (25).

Callum Jones restored parity for Penybont with two long-range shots in the 28th and 30th minutes.

The visitors then raced into a 4-2 half-time lead with goals by John Littlemore (32) and Thomas (34).

Five minutes into the second half, a move involving brothers Ben and Matthew Symons lead to a Danny Woolfenden goal.

In the 76th minute, Tom Rees restored a two-goal lead for the visitors, only for Connor Goldsworthy to pull a goal back through a penalty two minutes later.

Goldsworthy was again on target in the 81st minute with a stunning shot to tie the match 5-5.

Finally, on Sunday, Penybontís over-45ís went down to a 2-0 defeat at Barry in the Wales Veterans League.
