Cambrian & Clydach 0 - 1 Penybont FC
Penybont claim all three points on the road.
Penybont travelled to old friends Cambrian & Clydach on Sat the 27th of Jan in the Nathaniel Car Sales Welsh League Division 1 tie.

Penybont welcomed back David Allen to the back four and his presence was going to be needed against a tall, strong Cambrian side.

The game was a midfield battle from the word go and both teams were trying to get a foothold of the game, but most movements were broken down before they really got started. Penybont tried to create overlaps but the ball was always cut out before the final ball could be played in. With Marcus Griffiths ploughing a lone furrow up front and constantly putting the home defence under pressure, it allowed the midfield trio of Kieran Howard, Adam Carpenter and Cullen Kinsella to start to pull the strings and work their wiles onto the game. The game came alive with a strong run down the right hand side from Tyler Roche, who got to the by;line before sending in a perfect pass to Kieran Howard who rolled the ball first time past the despairing Dan Bradley in the home goal and into the back of the net to give Penybont a 1 - 0 half time lead.

Cambrian came out of the blocks at the start of the 2nd half but although they were playing a long ball our back four of Ioan Emmanuel, James Parry, David Allen and Kane Owen repelled everything that was thrown at them. Tim Georgievsky and Billy Borge then entered the fray and their work rate saw them find the pace of the game straight away. Cambrian's only chance of the game fell to Liam Reed as he pounced on a mistake from Howard but Captain Rhys Wilson was in no mood to concede and pulled off a great save to keep the score at 1 - 0. Joe Hopkins then came to the fore and some of his crosses were tantalising for our forwards to attack but they came to nothing.

The game then petered out and the excellent referee was about to bring the game to an end but before he could, the Cambrian number 11 said something to him and a 2nd yellow card came out followed by the red.

A good hard fought victory at a ground where the home team will take a lot of points.
