Penybont vís Cwm Welfare

Saturday 24th October 2015

Score:

Penybont:            9

Cwm Welfare:      1

FIRST HALF

The young Bont have made various statements in recent weeks as they have injected momentum into their season, and they made the latest one here, home at the Kymco Stadium by thumping Cwm Welfare 9-1.

The day didnít start well with the hosts struggling to get a grip on the game, Cwm Welfare defended in numbers and with the Bontís poor start found themselves in a position that they were not going to let slip by and took an early lead. There were a few hairy moments for Penybont who could not control a now inflated Cwm Welfare side.

Penybont had flickered only from a few corners when the timing of Jorge Crofts floated ball from the Inside-Left channel, in between the Cwm Welfare Centre-halves, was met by Kristian Evans who chested the ball into the visitorís net, Bont had got the equalizer. Cwm Welfare only having one man on the bench found themselves having to make an early substitution due to the frustration of one of their squad members who was already on a yellow, and then making an unnecessary two footed challenge, which left the Cwm coach no option but to make the early substitution. Penybont now needed to up the tempo and take control of the game. Nick Ivey found himself on the receiving end of yet another cross from Jorge Croft which was to become a regular occurrence throughout the afternoon who neatly headed his first of the afternoon into the visitorís net. Penybont had now taken control of the game and Nathan Renfree always looked threatening from a midfield position pushing forward at every opportunity. Nobody could have predicted the dramatic turnaround, minutes after the equalizer, the whole game had been turned on its head. First half was completed with a fantastic 25-yard free kick from Nathan Renfree, the young Bont entering the changing rooms   3-1 up.

SECOND HALF

Penybont continued where they finished and were generally impressive, playing some nice football at times, with Jorge Croft who had terrorized the Cwm Welfare right back finding the net with a well-deserved goal.

Penybont controlled the second 45 minutes and didnít hesitate to add to their tally, with Nick Ivey netting his second, within minutes this was added to when Nathan Renfree slotted his second of the afternoon into the opposing net.

Cwm Welfare had failed to halt the onslaught but they had shown enough going forward to suggest this was not the end of the scoring and they at times broke forward at pace showing they could still be a threat. Nathan Godwin replaced Jorge Croft who had put in an impressive shift. Within minutes of coming off the bench Nathan Godwin found himself in front of goal with an opportunity to score  in his debut game for Penybont which he was not going to miss. As the onslaught continued, with the young Bont dominating Nick Ivey found himself presented with the chance to score the first hat trick of the afternoon which he neatly added to the score line.

The game was continued to be played at tempo by Penybont and the gloss was finally added by Nathan Renfree who found himself taking a free kick 6 yards outside the hosts goal, a tidy pass back from Billy Borge met with a blistering shot into the Cwm Welfare defence, finding its way into the back of the net, second hat trick of the afternoon.

Another good afternoon at the office for an unbeaten Penybont side.
