Super seven wins at weekend

Following a fine win for the first team away at Risca United on Friday evening further victories on Saturday and Sunday made it a perfect weekend for Penybont's senior teams.

On Saturday, Penybont travelled  to face Pontardawe Town in the Reserves Division West of the Nathaniel Car Sales Welsh League.


Josh Jones opened the scoring for Penybont after 30 minutes and thatís how it stayed until half time.


HT 0-1


Josh Jones increased Penybontís lead after 73 minutes, with Tom Davies sealing the victory for Penybont on 84 minutes.

Also on Saturday, Penybontís third team travelled to Cefn Cribwr for a Division One fixture in the Bridgend Football League and came away with a 4-3 victory, courtesy of goals from Connor Goldsworthy, two penalties, Connor James and Nick Ivey.

On Sunday, Penybont's under-19's entertained Briton Ferry Llansawel in the Youth Division West of the Nathaniel Car Sales Welsh League.

The visitors opened the scoring in the fifth minute through Arnie Mcube, but Matt Symons equalised for Penybont five minutes later.

Nick Ivey made it 2-1 to Penybont after 14 minutes and Owain Hopkins scored number three on 26 minutes.

Six minutes later Mcube scored the visitors second goal.

There were no further goals an Penybont ran out 3-2 winners.

Also on Sunday, Penybont's team in the WPL Development League (South) gained an excellent 4-0 home victory over Merthyr Town.

In the 20th minute Adam Carpenter scored from a cross by Tom Davies who had come on for the injured Bleddyn Webster only six minutes earlier.

Fifteen minutes later Carpenter converted a Connor Goldsworthy corner to increase Penybont's lead.

HT 2-0

In the 50th minute Davies scored one himself with a one-on-one with Merthyr keeper Jack Harris.

Carpenter completed his hat-trick on 84 minutes with a header from a Harry Collins cross,

FT 4-0

Penybont: Aaron Jones, Ben Symons (Rob Symons 83), Tom Lillico, Sean Williams, Evan Denscombe, Adam Carpenter, Josh Jones (Callum Jones 76), Kieran Davies, Harry Collins, Bleddyn Webster (Tom Davies 14), Connor Goldsworthy.

Again on Sunday, Penybont's over-45's defeated Albion Rovers away in Newport by a goal to nil in the Wales Veterans League.

Darren Nota was Penybont's scorer on 35 minutes.

Finally on Sunday, Penybont's Ladies team defeated Aberdare Town 7-4 at home in round one of the FAW Welsh Women's Cup.

Sam Jackson 3, Daisy Stoakes 2, Ashton Morgan and Gemma Harris were on target for Penybont.
