BAD DAY FOR RESERVES
10-men defeated at Ferry
PUBLISHED: 11th Feb 17

On Saturday, Penybont's team in the Nathaniel Car Sales Welsh League Reserves Division West travelled to play Briton Ferry Llansawel having defeated the same opposition 7-1 at home earlier in the season.

Penybont got off to the worse possible start when striker Rafal Pacholec, was fouled on the left hand edge of the box. Unfortunately, he retaliated and was sent off by referee Andrew Wallen for violent conduct.

It took until the 41st minute for Ferry to score when Mike Walsh played a corner from the right to the unmarked Daniel Thomas who hit it into the back of the net from all of 30 yards. It looked like a training ground move and was the only goal of the half.

A minute before the break Penybont's keeper Jonathan Davies made a fine save from Ferry's Sam Brown.

In the 53rd minute a shot from Ferry's Sam Brown was pushed onto the base of the post by Davies, and was cleared.

On 55 minutes Ferry doubled their lead when Arnie Mcube made a run from the right to score.

Four minutes later, Ferry substitute Sam Hawkes chipped over Davies' head to score with his first kick of the match.

In the 63rd minute, Penybont's Connor James was just wide to the right from 30 yards.

A minute later Davies was again called into action saving a close-range shot from Ferry's Lloyd Jones.

On 69 minutes Ferry's Brown scored with central 30-yard shot.

Eleven minutes later, Hawkes scored his second for Ferry with a run and shot through the middle.

Six minutes from time Mcube scored his second and Ferry's sixth and final goal from the edge of the box following a Davies' save.

Final score - Ferry 6, Penybont 0.

Penybont: Jonathan Davies, Daniel Ridout (Matthew Richards 70), Tom Harbisher, Matthew Smith, Josh Clements, Connor James, Ben Cripps (Chris Pothecary 46), Rhys Jordan, Rafal Pacholec, Mark Williams, Rob Symons.
