Victory over Afan Lido

On Wednesday, Penybont travelled to the Marstonís Stadium to play Afan Lido in the semi-final of the South Wales FA Senior Cup.

On 14 minutes, Penybontís Bleddyn Webster shot from the right but it just failed to enter the net at the far post.

In the 22nd minute, Webster was fouled in the box, Adam Carpenter converted the penalty.

Three minutes later, Penybontís Harrison Collins had to leave the field with a leg injury which necessitated in him having to go to hospital. Danny Woolfenden came on as substitute.

In the 26th minute, a low cross from Tom Davies gave Penybont a chance to double the lead no one was on hand to make the final touch and it went wide.

A minute later, a Kurt Thornbury shot was well-saved by Lidoís keeper, Chris Curtis.

On 44 minutes, a James Parry pass resulted in a Webster goal and a 2-0 lead at the break for Penybont.

In the 60th minute, Lidoís Morgan Griffiths was dismissed by Aberdare referee, Jon Bryant, for a two-footed foul on Tom Davies.

Two minutes later it was 3-0 to Penybont when a Woolfenden pass resulted in a Thornbury goal.

In the 80th minute, Lidoís Alex Gammond was dismissed for the use of inappropriate language.

Five minutes from time, a Woolfenden cross resulted in a Matthew Symons goal and a 4-0 victory for Penybont.

In the final Penybont will play Taffs Well following their 2-1 semi-final victory over Port Talbot Town, also on Wednesday evening.

The final is scheduled to be played at Aberdare Town FC, on Tuesday 21 March 2017, 7.45pm kick off.

Penybont: Jonathan Davies, Ben Symons, James Parry, Rhys Jordan, Steve Gauci, Bleddyn Webster, Tom Davies, Kieran Davies, Kurt Thornbury (Matthew Symons 70), Adam Carpenter (Robert Symons 62), Harrison Collins (Danny Woolfenden 25). Subs not used: Elliott Volkaerts, Rhys Wilson (gk).
