THREE POINTS ON SATURDAY
Home win over Cwmbran Celtic

On Saturday, Penybont entertained Cwmbran Celtic at the KYMCO Stadium in Division One of the Nathaniel Car Sales Welsh League.


Penybont took an early lead after five minutes when following a mix-up in the away defence, Cullen Kinsella slotted home with away keeper Lewis Watkins stranded out of goal.


Ten minutes later Penybontís Tom Atyeo headed wide.


In the 33rd and 34th minutes, Penybontís Rhys Griffiths and Adam Carpenter cleared two goal attempts by Cwmbran Celticís Callum Wakeham.


In the 36th minute, Marcus Griffiths doubled Penybontís lead, and on the stoke of half time it was three with Joe Hopkins heading home a Kane Owen corner.


In the 63rd minute, away keeper Watkins saved well from Owain Warlow.


Eight minutes later it was 3-1 with Wakeham scoring for the visitors from the edge of the box.


A minute later, substitute Dominic Connor shot just wide of Penybontís keeper Rhys Wilsonís goal.


In the 83rd minute, Lee Challenger made it 3-2 with a close-range shot.


Two minutes later, Hopkins restored Penybontís two-goal advantage with a shot from the edge of the box.


On 87 minutes, Warlow had a shot saved at the base of the post by away keeper Watkins.


A minute later, Penybontís Kurt Thornbury headed over the bar from another Owen corner.


In time added on Penybontís Rhys Griffiths headed home an Owen corner to make the final score 5-2 to the home team.
