WEEKEND UPDATE
Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 February 2017

On Saturday, Penybont travelled to play Caldicot Town in Division One of the Nathaniel Car Sales Welsh League.

In wet conditions, Caldicot's early threats were mainly as a result of long throws by Ashley Palmer.

It was not until the 31st minute that Penybont make a breakthrough. Adam Carpenter found Owain Warlow who threaded a pass to Marcus Griffiths to score his 18th goal of the season.

A minute later he could have doubled the lead but his header struck the post.

In the 44th minute, James Parry came on as a substitute for Penybont's player-manager Rhys Griffiths, who had to leave the field with what appeared to be a re-occurrence of a calf injury.

In the 65th minute, Bleddyn Webster, making his full first-team debut, drove into the Caldicot half and made a pass to Marcus Griffiths but he shot wide.

In the 90th minute Adam Carpenter had a chance but he shot wide and Marcus Griffiths' first-half strike was enough to give Penybont all three points.

Penybont: Rhys Wilson, Ioan Emanuel, Kane Owen, Kieran Howard, Tom Atyeo, Rhys Griffiths (James Parry 44), Owain Warlow, Adam Carpenter, Bleddyn Webster, Marcus Griffiths, Joe Hopkins. Subs not used: Tom Davies, Steve Gauci.

Also on Saturday, Penybont's Reserve Division West fixture at Goytre United was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.
