Win for first team, loss for ladies
PUBLISHED: 27th Mar 17

On Saturday, Penybont's first team entertained Cambrian & Clydach Vale at the KYMCO Stadium in Division One of the Nathaniel Car Sales Welsh League.

In the 15th minute, Penybont almost opened the scoring when a James Parry pass found Owain Warlow but his shot was just wide of the target.

Two minutes later, Penybont did take the lead when player-manager Rhys Griffiths (pictured) headed home a Kane Owen corner.

In the 23rd minute, a one-two between Joe Hopkins and Warlow resulted in the latter doubling Penybont's lead.

In the 50th minute an Owen cross was just headed over by Kostya Georgievsky.

Two minutes later, Cambrian's Sam Jones made a low cross across the face of the goal but no one was there to make a goal attempt.

In the 61st minute, Cambrian reduced the arrears when Leon Jacka chipped home keeper Rhys Wilson.

Then in the 73rd minute, Joe Hopkins restored Penybont's two-goal advantage from a Warlow pass.

Two minutes from time, Wilson made an excellent one-handed save from Cambrian's Cameron Keetch, and Penybont ran out 3-1 winners.

Penybont: Rhys Wilson, James Parry, Kane Owen, Adam Carpenter (Tim Georgievsky 63), Tom Atyeo, Rhys Griffiths, Owain Warlow, Cullen Kinsella, Kostya Georgievsky (Kyran Gardner 80), Marcus Griffiths (Bleddyn Webster 38), Joe Hopkins. Subs not used: Ioan Emanuel, Rhys Jordan.

On Sunday, Penybont's Ladies travelled to Jenner Park to play Barry Town United Ladies in the Welsh Women's League and suffered a 6-0 defeat.
