On Saturday, Penybont entertained Caerau (Ely) at the KYMCO Stadium in Division One of the Nathaniel Car Sales Welsh League.

Penybontís player-manager, Rhys Griffiths opened the scoring in the 10th minute following a cross into the box by Kane Owen.

Two minutes later, a Kostya Georgievsky (pictured) cross was headed towards goal by Joe Hopkins, only to be saved by visiting keeper, Alex Smith.

Penybont increased their lead in the 24th minute when Kostya Georgievsky beat Smith with a shot inside the box.

In the 38th minute, a long ball out of defence by Rhys Griffiths reached Kostya Georgievsky but his shot was just wide.

Two minutes later, following another long ball out of defence lead to an Owain Warlow goal for Penybont.

A minute into the second half, Penybont further extended their lead when Kostya Georgievsky scored his second and Penybontís fourth goal.

In the 58th minute, a Kostya Georgievsky cross was just missed by Marcus Griffiths but when it reached Warlow he shot over the bar.

In the 69th minute, Caerau (Ely) were awarded a penalty by Swansea referee, Ryan Kenny who also issued a yellow card to Penybontís captain and keeper, Rhys Wilson. The visitors Curtis Hutson converted the penalty.

Three minutes later, Penybont restored their four goal advantage when a Warlow pass across goal lead to a Kostya Georgievsky goal and his hat-trick.

Five minutes from time, in almost a copy book of the 69th minute incident, the referee awarded another penalty to the visitors. Wilson was issued with another yellow card and subsequently a red. Hutson converted the penalty for the visitorsí second goal of the match beating Ioan Emanuel who substituted between the sticks.

On Sunday, Penybont travelled to play Risca United in the WPL Development League (South) and won 5-1, after being 1-0 down at half time.

On target for Penybont were Kieran Davies (60), Rhys Alden (62, 80), Josh Bogue (65), and Matthew Symons (82).

Penybont: Jonathan Davies, Ben Symons, Robert Symons, Steve Gauci, Rhys Jordan, Rhys Alden, Josh Bogue, Kieran Davies, Matthew Symons, Bleddyn Webster, Jamie Aperley (Elliot Volkaerts 75).

 

Also on Sunday, Penybont entertained Newcastle Emlyn in the Welsh Womenís League and won 2-1.

Ashton Morgan and Shona Davies scored for Penybont.

 

Further on Sunday, Penybontís over-45ís travelled to play Cwmbran over-65ís and lost 4-2.

Penybontís scorers were Gareth Jones and Peter Morgan.
