DEVELOPMENT TEAM WIN CUP SEMI-FINAL
Victory over Haverfordwest County

On Sunday, Penybont entertained Haverfordwest County at the KYMCO Stadium in the WPL Development League (South) Cup.


In the third minute Penybont’s Kieran Davies shot wide from a Jamie Aperley pass.


A minute later, Davies headed wide from an Aperley cross.


In the 16th minute, Penybont’s Steve Gauci headed a Rhys Alden free kick against the crossbar.


Eight minutes later, against the run of play, Haverfordwest took the lead through skipper Alfie Stottor.


In the 34th minute, Alden equalised with a penalty after Kieran Davies had been fouled by visiting keeper Nick Jones.


In the 51st minute, Penybont took the lead with a solo run into the box and goal by Alden.


Seventeen minutes later a Matthew Symons cross into the six-yard box was chested home by Aperley for a 3-1 lead.


In the 80th minute, a Matthew Symons shot was well-saved by Jones.


Two minutes later, a through ball by Davies to Matthew Symons lead to a point-blank save by Jones.


Penybont reached the final of this competition for the second year in a row.


FT – Penybont 3, Haverfordwest County 1.


In today’s other semi-final, Cambrian & Clydach Vale defeated Aberystwyth Town 4-2 after extra time (2-2 at full time).


The date and venue for the final is yet to be announced.
