Defeat on penalties

On Wednesday, Penybont travelled to Cambrian & Clydach to play Taffs Well in the final of the South Wales FA Senior Cup.

Taffs Well opened the scoring in the eighth minute through Anthony Burnett from close range.

In the 16th minute, a James Parry header from an Adam Carpenter corner was cleared off the goal line to deny Penybont an equaliser. A minute later the equaliser did arrive from another Parry header.

Ten minutes later Penybont took the lead when Joe Hopkins headed home an excellent cross from man of the match Ben Symons.

In the 60th minute, a shot by Penybontís Danny Woolfenden was well saved by Wyn Walters.

Taffs Well's Craig McDonnall equalised in the 73rd minute.

In the 95th minute, Taffs Well's Joey Evans shot over the bar from a cross by Taffs Well's best player on the night, King Junior Mdwenze.

A minute later, Penybont's keeper Jonathan Davies made  a point blank save from an Evans' header.

In the 98th minute, a header by Penybontís Billy Borge from a Carpenter cross was well saved by Walters.

In the 103rd minute, Penybont's keeper Davies pulled off an outstanding save at full stretch from an excellent Mike Murphy shot.

Taffs Well won the Cup 4-3 on penalties.
