Into the draw for Round 2
Penybont 1 v 0 Undy Athletic
PUBLISHED: 8th Oct 17
On Saturday the 8/10/17 we welcomed Undy Athletic to the Kymco Stadium for the 1st Round tie of the JD FAW Welsh Cup.

Undy turned up in a determined mood after the league game a few weeks before at the Kymco Stadium as they went down to an 8 - 1 defeat to the Penybont team who were in a ruthless mood on that occasion.

The game itself was a drab game with few and far chances for both teams and Penybont went the closest as a Marcus Griffiths header just cleared the cross bar.

The 2nd half wasn't much better, although Penybont controlled the possession and the game, Undy still looked dangerous on the counter attack, but this game had penalties written all over it.

The game went into extra time and although both teams huffed and puffed, it didn't look like anyone was going to score. This changed in virtually the last few seconds of extra time as a shot in the box struck an Undy defenders arm and the referee had no doubts and blew the whistle and pointed straight to the penalty spot.

Kane Owen stepped up and was the calmest person in the Stadium and duly sent the opposition keeper the wrong way and see the ball nestle in the back of the net. The game restarted but the referee brought the game to an end and the lone strike from Owen sent Penybont FC into the 2nd Round of the Welsh Cup.
